50,000 thousand Jewish exiles, led by Zerubbabel and Joshua returned to Jerusalem in 537 BC to rebuild their temple and their lives. Their story is told in the Old Testament books of Ezra, Nehemiah, Haggai, and Zechariah. Ezra was a priest and Haggai and Zechariah were prophets, but together with Zerubbabel the governor of Judah, they encouraged the Jewish remnant, overcame obstacles, and worked together to finish the work God gave them to do.
