E. Denniston –
This book offered practical, delightful, page-turning advice…AND SO MUCH MORE! The MAIN POINT was that I actually learned a little about guys and the most about myself, my standards, my insecurities, hurts, and how to apply who I am, what I’ve been through, and where I want to be to my future. The Deans’ perspectives are refreshing and while their overall message may not be revolutionary, it’s an approach for modern era that tackles the things everyone is thinking but won’t talk about…especially among Christian communities. At first I read this because I wanted to learn more about men and how to navigate this world as a single woman among modern communication. I’ve been confused and disappointed several times by mixed signals and over-complicated reasoning for men’s behaviors and women’s responses as we pursue relationships. As a Christian woman, my friends and I often share the same expectations, goals and desires for what we would like in a romantic partnership with a man, but find ourselves excusing and rationalizing behavior as we consider fitting into what seem to be the “new” standards for dating…which NEVER brings the results desired. While it seems their target audience is for the under-30, it applies to any woman who wants to heal or build self-confidence or get the reassurance she’s on the right track by maintaining healthy boundaries and standards. This is a can’t-put-down companion for any woman who has doubted her worth or her expectations in modern times. Can’t wait to re-read it! Highly recommend, even if you’re married, supporting a single girl-friend, or preparing for a future-dating teen.
